Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics if a fundamental subject of most of the engineering disciplines. Having a good understanding of Thermodynamics will help one to understand the other connected subjects. Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics covers special topics such as multi-component or solution thermodynamics and chemical reaction equilibrium in addition to the usual Thermodynamics as learnt by other engineering disciplines.

Course Contents

Basic concepts, PVT behavior of pure components, First law, Second law, Thermodynamic relations, Flow processes, Refrigeration and heat engines, Solution thermodynamics, Phase equilibrium, Reaction equilibrium.

About the Coach

The coach for this course —  MSubbu (Dr. M. Subramanian) is a Faculty of Chemical Engineering in SSN College of Engineering College based at Chennai. He is a doctorate from IIT Madras. He is a passionate academician, researcher, author, and publisher.

MSubbu has taught Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics several times to the undergraduate students of Chemical Engineering.

He has authored the following books: “An Insight into Chemical Engineering”, “GATEway to Chemical Engineering (set of 5 volumes)”, and “GATEway to General Aptitude” which are the best-sellers for GATE. His in-person guidance to students of SVCE, and SSN resulted in students getting placements in IOCL, BPCL, ONGC, SPIC, etc. His books and web-resources are serving the Chemical Engineering community in understanding the topics in crisp and subjects in depth.

Course Flow

Review of core topics of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics. (12+ hours)

Solving typical questions from GATE examination, and questions adapted from good books and materials. (16+ hours)

Participation in discussion forum in msubbu.academy

Periodic assessments, feedback and certificate of completion.

Course Delivery

Live lecture to a group of 21 students, using smart digital board in acoustic proof class room, from Chennai. One can attend the class either in-person (limited to first 10 persons booking their slot), or in online through Zoom. For problem-solving sessions, teaching assistants will be available at 1 for 6 students; so as to help easy learning of problems.

Board writings will be given as pdf at the end of every class. Video recordings will be available for one to go through any number of times during the course period.

One month access to the interactive online course material on Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics, will be enabled for free.

By the end of the program, you will feel confident in your ability to understand Thermodynamics and connect the other subjects of Chemical Engineering.
